Baztab-e Naw News Agency (BNN), led by Tamim Ataee, officially commenced its operations. At its inauguration ceremony in Istanbul, 𝑼𝒓𝒂𝒏𝒖𝒔 𝑴𝒖𝒔𝒂𝒎𝒆𝒎, a former journalist and Afghan media personality, described media as a vital tool for raising public awareness and amplifying the silent voices of women. Referring to Afghanistan's challenges and the opportunities provided by exile, she urged everyone to participate in building a better future for their homeland, stating, "If we built hell, we will also build paradise."
According to Kokcha News Agency, Baztab-e Naw News Agency (BNN) launched today with a magnificent ceremony in Istanbul. The media outlet, which has declared its goal to reflect the realities of Afghanistan and the region without censorship, hosted prominent cultural and civil society figures, including 𝑼𝒓𝒂𝒏𝒖𝒔 𝑴𝒖𝒔𝒂𝒎𝒆𝒎, a former journalist and women’s rights activist. Following previous speeches by other personalities, Ms. Mosammem delivered an impactful address on the role and responsibility of media and Afghans in exile.
𝑼𝒓𝒂𝒏𝒖𝒔 𝑴𝒖𝒔𝒂𝒎𝒆𝒎: Media, Our Tool for Raising Awareness
𝑼𝒓𝒂𝒏𝒖𝒔 𝑴𝒖𝒔𝒂𝒎𝒆𝒎 began her speech by emphasizing: “Wherever we are in the world, we understand that there is a very urgent and essential need for us to be a voice. Media is a tool that we can use effectively… to raise the level of awareness of our people.”
She insisted on the necessity of collective effort for the Afghan people through media, stating: “From whatever source and wherever it may be, we must strive for our people. And the best and most effective source is this media, through which we can be the voice of our people, for the good of Afghanistan, for the prosperity of Afghanistan. We can advance through this very media.”
The Critical Situation of Women and the Responsibility of Exiles
Ms. Mosammem described the current situation in Afghanistan as alarming, explicitly stating: “Yes, in our beloved Afghanistan, unfortunately, there are many problems. Women cannot breathe.” She then referred to her own responsibility and that of other women’s rights activists in exile: “But I, as a woman, a women’s rights activist, say that here, in Turkey, a suitable opportunity has been provided for us to breathe. If we do not raise our voice here and do not strive, I would truly feel guilty.”
Building Paradise from Hell: A Message of Hope
With an optimistic approach, 𝑼𝒓𝒂𝒏𝒖𝒔 𝑴𝒖𝒔𝒂𝒎𝒆𝒎 envisioned a better future, referencing national proverbs and slogans: “So we can, as they say, ‘If we built hell, we will also build paradise.’ ‘We will build our homeland.’ ‘Ultimately, we will build ourselves.’ ‘We all will build.'” These words ignited enthusiasm and hope among the attendees.
She concluded by thanking all friends and colleagues for their presence and active participation in the ceremony and wished them all success.
