India Successfully Launches Heaviest Satellite on LVM3-M6 Mission
In a landmark achievement for India’s space program, the LVM3-M6 rocket successfully deployed the U.S.-built BlueBird Block-2 satellite — the heaviest payload ever launched from Indian soil — into its intended orbit.
Kokcha News Agency: India’s space ambitions reached new heights with the successful launch of the LVM3-M6 mission, which placed the massive BlueBird Block-2 communications satellite — weighing over 6,000 kg — into its designated orbit. The mission, conducted by the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO), underscores India’s growing capabilities in the heavy-lift launch segment and strengthens its position in the competitive global commercial satellite launch market.
The launch vehicle lifted off from the Satish Dhawan Space Centre in Sriharikota, demonstrating both technical precision and strategic ambition. The payload, owned by a U.S.-based operator, represents a major international partnership and reflects global trust in India’s launch services.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi praised the mission, highlighting its significance in advancing the vision of an Aatmanirbhar Bharat (Self-Reliant India) and applauding the dedication of the nation’s scientists and engineers. He noted that such missions not only showcase indigenous technological strength but also open doors for increased international collaboration and revenue in the space sector.
This mission marks a critical step forward as India continues to expand its role in space exploration and satellite deployment, with future heavy-lift and interplanetary missions already in development.
