More Nations May Follow Russia in Recognizing Taliban
Suhail Shaheen, head of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan’s (IEA) political office in Qatar, has hinted that other countries may soon follow Russia in recognizing the IEA-led government in Afghanistan.

In an interview with Russian state news agency RIA Novosti, Shaheen stated, “We may hear some good news in the coming weeks or months,” when asked if more nations would recognize the IEA government following Russia’s recent announcement.
Russia’s Recognition:
Russia became the first country to officially recognize the IEA authorities since their return to power in August 2021. This move could mark a significant step in the IEA’s efforts to gain international legitimacy.
Potential Diplomatic Shift:
Shaheen’s comments suggest a potential shift in diplomatic recognition, which could signal a turning point for the IEA as it seeks to establish itself on the global stage.
