Trump Floats Seizing Iran’s Oil, Calls Opponents “Stupid People”
In a blunt interview with the Financial Times, former president Donald Trump declared that seizing Iran’s oil would be “the best thing” for him—while dismissing critics who question the move as “stupid people,” reigniting debate over his confrontational approach to Tehran.

Kokcha News Agency, In remarks published by the Financial Times, U.S. President Donald Trump did not hold back on his vision for dealing with Iran, stating bluntly: “To be honest with you, the best thing for me would be to seize the oil in Iran.”
He went on to deride those who caution against such a move, adding, “but some stupid people in the United States are saying: ‘Why would you do that?’
But they are stupid people.” The comments, which appeared to reference the idea of using military or economic force to take control of Iranian oil assets, immediately drew sharp reactions from foreign policy analysts and political opponents.
Critics warned that advocating the seizure of a sovereign nation’s natural resources would violate international law and risk a major military escalation. Supporters of Trump, however, argued the statement reflected his longstanding “maximum pressure” doctrine aimed at crippling Iran’s economy and curbing its nuclear ambitions.
The president’s remarks come amid ongoing tensions in the Gulf and heightened scrutiny over U.S. strategy toward Tehran.
