US officials reportedly call Netanyahu ‘madman’ after Syria strikes
The Trump administration is increasingly alarmed by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s aggressive policies in Syria, with officials describing his actions as reckless and disruptive to U.S. peace efforts in the region.
Kokcha News Agency: According to a report by Axios, senior U.S. officials have voiced growing frustration with Netanyahu’s recent military actions in Syria, with one official stating, “Bibi acted like a madman.
He always bombs everything.” This sentiment was echoed by another official who expressed concern over the shelling of a church in Gaza, prompting President Trump to demand an explanation from Netanyahu.
The White House was reportedly caught off guard by Israel’s bombing campaign in Syria, with one official noting that Trump “doesn’t like turning on the TV and seeing bombs being dropped in a country where he is seeking peace.”
Despite a U.S.-mediated ceasefire that temporarily halted tensions, the week ended with significant concern over Netanyahu’s regional policies.
Israeli officials, however, defended their actions, stating that they intervened in Syria only after intelligence indicated the Syrian government’s involvement in attacks against the Druze community.
A senior U.S. official countered that Israel’s current policy could destabilize Syria, leading to losses for both the Druze community and Israel.
Netanyahu’s gamble on Trump’s support for his aggressive tactics has paid off in the past, particularly regarding Iran.
However, U.S. officials warn that Trump’s patience and goodwill toward Netanyahu may be running out, especially as the influence of extremist elements in Netanyahu’s coalition becomes more apparent.
