Afghanistan Delegation Attends 17th ECO Summit in Azerbaijan

A high-level delegation from the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan (IEA), led by Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar, has departed for Baku, Azerbaijan, to participate in the 17th Summit of the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO). The summit, held on July 3–4, aims to enhance regional economic integration and cooperation among member states.

The Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan (IEA) has sent a high-level delegation to Baku, Azerbaijan, to participate in the 17th Summit of the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO). The delegation is led by Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar, the Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs, who is expected to deliver a keynote address at the summit’s general session.

The two-day summit, scheduled for July 3–4, will bring together heads of state and senior officials from ECO member countries to discuss and strengthen regional economic integration. Key areas of focus include infrastructure development, energy, transportation, and investment.

In addition to participating in the summit’s official proceedings, Baradar is expected to hold bilateral meetings with Azerbaijani government officials. These meetings will aim to enhance cooperation between Afghanistan and Azerbaijan in various sectors, including trade, transit, and regional connectivity.

The Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) is a regional intergovernmental organization comprising 10 member states, including Afghanistan, Azerbaijan, Iran, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Pakistan, Tajikistan, Turkey, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan. The organization’s primary goal is to promote economic cooperation and development among its members.
