Taliban’s Supreme Court Sentences Three to Flogging and Imprisonment in Khost and Paktia

The Taliban’s Supreme Court has sentenced three individuals in Khost and Paktia provinces to flogging and imprisonment on charges of extramarital relations and murder.

Kokcha News Agency reports that the Taliban’s Supreme Court has announced the sentencing of three individuals in Khost and Paktia provinces.

Two individuals in the Ali Sher district of Khost were each sentenced to three years in prison and 39 lashes for charges of extramarital relations and murder. Additionally, one person in the Waze Zadran district of Paktia was sentenced to one year in prison for murder.

This comes as the Taliban continues to enforce its strict interpretation of Sharia law, with public floggings and summary trials becoming increasingly common.

Earlier, the group had publicly flogged 16 individuals in Kabul, and their controversial “field courts” persist as the group approaches the fourth anniversary of its rule.
