United Nations: Over 70 Taliban Decrees Issued Against Women

The United Nations has revealed that the Taliban have issued more than 70 decrees targeting women and girls in Afghanistan, creating what is described as the most severe women’s rights crisis in the world.

Kokcha News Agency – Susanne J. Ferguson, the UN Special Representative for Women’s Affairs, has stated that the Taliban’s policies against women and girls in Afghanistan have created the most severe women’s rights crisis globally. In a new report, Ferguson emphasized that with the implementation of the “Commanding Good and Forbidding Evil” law, women have effectively been erased from public life and even lack psychological safety within their homes.

Ferguson warned that the international community’s silence could lead to the normalization of this situation.

Simultaneously, Audrey Azoulay, Director-General of UNESCO, expressed deep concern over the state of girls’ education in Afghanistan, revealing that over 70 restrictive decrees have been issued against women so far.

Azoulay noted that 2.2 million girls are currently deprived of education, and if restrictions continue until 2030, this number could rise to 4 million.

The United Nations has repeatedly called on the Taliban to recognize women’s rights, but the group has shown no signs of changing its policies.
