Heartbreaking Accident in Herat: Half of Victims Unidentifiable

A tragic accident in Herat, Afghanistan, has left 78 people dead, with half of the bodies unidentifiable. The victims, including 17 children, were migrants returning from Iran.

Kokcha News Agency: A devastating accident occurred in Herat, Afghanistan, when a passenger bus collided with a motorcycle and a Mazda car, resulting in a fire that claimed 78 lives. Among the victims were 71 migrants returning from Iran, including 17 children, who were on their way to Kabul.

The accident took place around 8:00 PM last night in the Ghor Province. The bus, operated by Hari Caravan, was transporting the migrants when it collided with the vehicles and caught fire. The victims included the bus driver, the assistant driver, a motorcyclist, and two Mazda drivers.

According to a list released by the Taliban’s Ministry of Transport and Aviation, the victims were from various provinces: 18 from Parwan, 15 from Kapisa, 14 from Ghazni, 9 from Kunduz, 7 from Kabul, 6 from Baghlan, and 4 from Daikundi.

The Commission for Migrant Affairs at the Islam Qala camp has prepared a list of names and photos of the victims’ families to expedite the identification and handover of the bodies. This list includes the full names of the deceased and photos of some of their family members.

This tragic event, one of the deadliest traffic accidents in Afghanistan in recent years, has sparked widespread grief and sorrow among the people.
