Amrullah Saleh’s Green Trend: “Military Force is the Only Solution; Civil Resistance is Hypocrisy”

In a sharply worded statement, the Afghanistan Green Trend, led by former Vice President Amrullah Saleh, has declared that history proves dialogue and demonstrations have never resolved power struggles in Afghanistan. The group asserted that military force is the "intrinsic principle" of the land and labeled advocates of civil methods as hypocrites.

According to a statement released by the Afghanistan Green Trend, historical evidence and common custom in Afghanistan demonstrate that issues of power and tyranny have never been resolved through demonstrations, dialogue, or correspondence. The group argues that current conditions are no exception to this historical rule.

“Force is the Intrinsic Principle”

The statement posits that a military solution and reliance on force have been the “intrinsic principle” of Afghanistan since its foundation and remain so today. The group contends that any attempt to solve the country’s crisis without the use of force is detached from the realities of Afghan history.

Accusations of Hypocrisy

The Green Trend directed harsh criticism at those advocating for civil resistance instead of the toppling of the Taliban. The statement labeled such individuals as “hypocrites,” accusing them of being aligned with the Taliban in their hearts and minds, even if they do not admit it verbally.

Taliban’s View: Spoils and Subjects

The statement characterizes the Taliban’s view of governance as one where Afghanistan is merely “spoils of war” (ghanima) and the population are “subjects” rather than citizens. It argues that the group recognizes nothing beyond this master-subject dynamic.

The Necessity of Overthrow

Concluding the statement, the Green Trend asserted that accepting Taliban rule is equivalent to accepting slavery. It emphasized that any potential peaceful solution or diplomatic leverage requires the backing of a coercive force capable of overthrowing the regime.
