27-Day-Old Infant Freezes to Death in Gaza as Winter Death Toll Rises
A 27-day-old baby named Aisha Ayish el-Agha has died in Khan Yunis due to severe cold, raising the number of children who have perished from freezing temperatures in the Gaza Strip to eight since the onset of winter.

According to information obtained from medical sources, the infant died today in Khan Yunis as a direct result of harsh weather conditions. With this latest tragedy, the death toll of children succumbing to the extreme cold in the Gaza Strip has risen to eight.
Local and medical sources have stated that these deaths are directly linked to Israel’s restrictions on the entry of humanitarian aid into Gaza, despite the current ceasefire. Due to the limited entry of food, medicine, medical supplies, fuel, and shelter equipment, hundreds of thousands of Palestinians are struggling to survive in makeshift and inadequate tents.
Sources highlighted that displaced families are sheltering in areas completely unprotected against cold weather conditions, emphasizing that the current situation poses a severe risk to the lives of children and infants. It was reported that the people of Gaza are facing severe difficulties in accessing shelter and healthcare services, and heating options have been almost entirely eliminated due to the blocking of fuel shipments.
The stormy, rainy, and freezing weather conditions affecting the region have further aggravated the deepening humanitarian crisis, even with a ceasefire in effect. The cold weather continues to claim lives in Gaza due to the inability to access basic necessities.
