Afghanistan Allocates Land and Provides Aid for Deported Returnees from Iran

The Afghan Ministry of Urban Development and Housing has announced plans to provide permanent housing for migrants who have been forcibly deported from Iran. Kamal Afghan, the ministry’s spokesperson, stated that over 94,000 acres of land across 60 settlements in 25 provinces have been allocated for this purpose.

Land Allocation for Returnees
Afghan explained that provincial committees are actively identifying and surveying land to prepare detailed plans for the distribution of plots to returning families. The High Commission for Migrants has provided the ministry with a list of nearly 80,000 families who have returned, and land will be distributed accordingly in their respective provinces.

Challenges Faced by Returnees
Returnees from Iran have cited the lack of shelter as one of their most significant challenges. In response, the Afghan government, guided by Islamic, humanitarian, and national values, has launched a comprehensive aid program to support these families.

Comprehensive Aid and Services
The aid program includes the following services:

1. Cash Assistance: 2,000 Afghanis per family member.
2. Food Distribution: Hot meals for lunch and dinner.
3. Communication: A SIM card for each individual to facilitate contact with family.
4. Transportation: Free transport from the Islam Qala border to the returnee’s home province.
5. Healthcare: Free medical services and treatment.
6. Land Allocation: Free land for eligible returnees.
7. Housing Construction: Homes for eligible migrant families.

Community Support
In addition to government efforts, local communities have also stepped up to assist returnees. For example, young residents of Herat organized a convoy of over 20 refrigerated trailers and 50 private vehicles to transport migrants and provide food and water.

Government Commitment
Officials of the Islamic Emirate consider these round-the-clock services their duty and are committed to expanding support for the honorable Afghan people. “No one in this homeland will be left alone,” they affirmed.
