Amrullah Saleh: The National Flag United the Nation; Taliban’s Propaganda is Baseless

Amrullah Saleh, Chairperson of the Afghanistan Green Trend, has emphasized the significance of Afghanistan’s national flag, calling it a symbol of unity and national pride, while condemning the Taliban’s propaganda and their role in destabilizing the country.

Kokcha News Agency: In a powerful statement, Amrullah Saleh, Chairperson of the Afghanistan Green Trend, highlighted the importance of Afghanistan’s national flag as a unifying symbol that brought the nation together under one roof. He stressed that under this flag, people were able to directly participate in power, engage in meaningful dialogue about their destiny, and define their role in governance from the village level to the center.

Saleh paid tribute to those who lost their lives defending the flag, stating, “We lost some of our dearest ones defending this flag. We adorned their graves with it. With this flag, the dignity and honor of the country emerged. For me, this is the flag of Afghanistan. It is a banner of our national pride. The word of Tawhid (monotheism) is written on it. Therefore, the flag is sacred.”

He also dismissed the Taliban’s propaganda as baseless, particularly their recent tensions with Pakistan, calling it a “sham fight” designed to mislead. Saleh accused the Taliban of being complicit in the assassination of key national figures, including Ahmad Shah Massoud, who spoke against Pakistani interference until his last breath, and other prominent leaders like Haji Abdul Qadir, Burhanuddin Rabbani, and Danesh Hakeem Taniwal.

Saleh argued that the Taliban, with the support of Pakistan’s ISI and other intelligence agencies, have systematically destroyed Afghanistan’s unity, derailed its integration into the global order, and set the country back decades in terms of civilization and state-building. He criticized the Taliban for institutionalizing ethnic divisions and undermining Afghanistan’s cultural identity and mutual acceptance.

“The Taliban’s stubbornness and ignorance are eroding the foundation of Afghanistan’s cultural identity and tolerance,” Saleh said. He also rejected the Taliban’s attempts to rebrand themselves as a national movement, stating that their narrative remains disconnected from the people of Afghanistan.

Saleh emphasized that only a legitimate government, born from the will and vote of the people, can create a national narrative. He asserted that national issues can only be addressed under the three-colored national flag, which represents the unity and sovereignty of Afghanistan.

He concluded by stating that the legitimacy of Afghanistan’s leadership cannot be derived from deals with figures like Khalilzad or agreements with the ISI. Instead, it must come from the people of Afghanistan, who have the right to determine their future.
