Taliban Official Warns Against Nepotism, Ethnic Favoritism, and Linguistic Discrimination

Azizurrahman al-Muhajir, head of the Herat Province’s Amr bil Maruf (Promotion of Virtue and Prevention of Vice) office, has emphasized the need to prevent nepotism, ethnic favoritism, and linguistic discrimination during his visit to several districts in Herat.

Kokcha News: Azizurrahman al-Muhajir, the head of Herat’s Amr bil Maruf office, has warned against nepotism, ethnic favoritism, and linguistic discrimination during his visit to the districts of Rabat-e Sangi, Kushk-e Kohna, and Gulran. In separate meetings with civilian and military officials in these districts, he stressed that such behaviors could undermine unity and efficiency among officials and urged them to remain vigilant against these threats.

Al-Muhajir also emphasized the importance of unity, obedience, and solidarity among employees and officials, calling for good conduct and swift resolution of people’s problems. He insisted that the doors of government offices should always remain open to the public.

During separate meetings with local elders, scholars, influential figures, and residents, al-Muhajir listened to their concerns and complaints, promising that necessary actions would soon be taken to address these issues.

The Amr bil Maruf offices, which are responsible for promoting virtue, preventing vice, and hearing complaints, operate with relative independence even from provincial governors in some areas. These offices report directly to the Taliban’s leadership.

Al-Muhajir’s remarks highlight the Taliban’s ongoing efforts to address internal divisions and promote unity within its ranks, even as the group faces criticism for its governance and human rights record.
