Reported by Kokcha News Agency:
Europe’s ongoing heatwave has led to catastrophic wildfires in Spain, with Catalonia being one of the hardest-hit regions. Temperatures reaching up to 46 degrees Celsius have created the perfect conditions for the fires to spread rapidly.
The first major wildfire broke out in Catalonia, claiming the lives of two individuals—a farm owner and a worker. According to Spanish media, the victims, aged 32 and 45, were trying to escape the blaze by car but became trapped. They continued on foot but were ultimately overcome by the flames.
Firefighters discovered the bodies in the surrounding area of the affected zone. Authorities have reported that over 6,500 hectares of land were impacted by the fire, which stabilized after 10:30 PM local time.
Cause of the Fire
Initial investigations suggest that the fire may have been sparked by agricultural machinery. The vehicle belonging to the two victims was found by another farmer near the riverbank, surrounded by charred fields. Approximately 150 meters away, the bodies of the victims were discovered under large rocks, where they had apparently sought shelter.

Firefighter Injured
In a separate incident, a firefighter was seriously injured during firefighting operations in Cosco when a roof tile fell on his legs while he was working in a hayloft.
