Kokcha News Agency – The South Asia Strategic Stability Institute (SASSI), a think tank closely linked to Pakistan’s establishment, is preparing to launch its first conference on Afghanistan post-Taliban takeover.
The event, initially delayed at the request of Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi after the trilateral meeting in Kabul on August 20, 2025, is now finalized for September 29th–30th.
The undisclosed agenda reveals that the first day will focus on Afghan-only discussions, with opening remarks by Maria Sultan, the Executive Director of SASSI.
The second day will feature prominent Pakistani government officials, including policymakers, practitioners, and serving and retired generals, presenting the event as the “Afghanistan-Pakistan Dialogue.”
This new initiative is surrounded by uncertainties, as it marks the first major dialogue on Afghanistan hosted by a Pakistani think tank since the Taliban’s return to power.
The conference aims to address strategic stability in the region, but details on the participation of Afghan stakeholders and the Taliban remain unclear.
