Hossein Kan’ani Moghaddam, the Secretary-General of the International Anti-Zionist Association, in an interview with ISNA, analyzed Hamas’ conditional acceptance of the U.S.-proposed plan, stating that it was a “smart move” that disarmed the U.S. He emphasized that if Donald Trump accepts Hamas’ conditions, it would be the biggest political victory for Hamas since October 7.
Kan’ani Moghaddam highlighted that the U.S. is following an Israeli roadmap aimed at implementing a “soft coup” in Gaza to dismantle Palestinian resistance groups. However, Hamas’ conditional acceptance, which includes demands such as the formation of a Palestinian government and the withdrawal of Israeli forces from Gaza, has put the U.S. in a difficult position.
He noted that the U.S. had threatened to “unleash hell” if Hamas did not accept the plan within 48 hours, but Hamas’ conditional agreement has stalled U.S. plans and shifted the focus to international forums and the need to end the siege on Gaza.
Kan’ani Moghaddam also addressed the issue of disarming Hamas, stating that Hamas has agreed to hand over weapons to a Palestinian government only after its formation, ensuring that Palestinian groups retain their arms as long as there is a threat. He stressed that “the Palestinian people and groups will not abandon their weapons as long as there is a threat.”
In conclusion, he emphasized that the future of Palestine should be managed by Palestinians themselves, with the support of Arab and Islamic countries, rather than allowing the U.S. or the U.K. to occupy Gaza in any form.
