Afghanistan and China Discuss Strengthening Political and Economic Ties

Acting Afghan Foreign Minister Amir Khan Muttaqi met with Zhao Chao, Deputy Secretary General of China’s Xinjiang province, in Kabul to discuss strengthening political relations and expanding economic, transit, and trade cooperation between Afghanistan and China.

During the meeting on Thursday, both sides engaged in comprehensive discussions on enhancing cooperation based on mutual trust and exploring opportunities for economic, transit, and trade development between Afghanistan and China’s Xinjiang province.

Afghanistan’s Commitment to Cooperation:
Muttaqi emphasized the importance of expanding cooperation with China in line with Afghanistan’s foreign policy principles. He highlighted the potential for deeper ties in various sectors, including trade and transit.

China’s Praise for Afghanistan’s Security and Strategic Position:
Zhao Chao commended Afghanistan’s improved security situation and its strategic role in regional connectivity. He expressed China’s readiness to explore joint projects and opportunities to strengthen economic relations between Xinjiang and Afghanistan.

Commitment to Future Coordination:
Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to maintaining regular contact and enhancing coordination to further develop future cooperation.
