Russia Officially Recognizes Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan, Strengthens Bilateral Ties

The Afghan Foreign Ministry announced late Thursday that Ambassador Zhirnov officially communicated Russia’s decision to recognize the IEA, describing it as a “historic step” toward strengthening relations between Afghanistan and Russia.

Muttaqi’s Response:
Acting Foreign Minister Amir Khan Muttaqi welcomed Russia’s decision, calling it the beginning of a new phase of positive relations, mutual respect, and constructive engagement between the two countries.

Muttaqi stated that Russia’s “realistic decision” would be remembered as a major development in the history of bilateral relations and urged other countries to follow suit. He emphasized that this move would pave the way for further expansion of cooperation between Afghanistan and Russia.
