IAEA Withdraws Inspectors from Iran Following Suspension of Cooperation

Fordow nuclear site is extensive and serious

Following Iran’s decision to suspend its cooperation with the IAEA—its relationship with the agency having been formally halted—inspectors have been sent back from Iran.

The IAEA announced that its personnel are departing from Tehran to Vienna; however, due to security concerns stemming from the Israel-Iran war, they are currently unable to leave Iran.

IAEA Director Rafael Grossi emphasized the importance of resuming inspections, stating, “It is vital that we re-establish monitoring activities in Iran as quickly as possible through discussions with the Iranian authorities.”

The Iranian government had announced its decision to halt cooperation after attacks on nuclear facilities by the U.S. and Israel, intensifying concerns over nuclear proliferation.
