Ukraine Claims Strike on Russian Airbase in Voronezh, Damaging Aircraft and Bomb Depot

On Saturday, July 5, Reuters reported that the Borisoglebsk airbase in western Russia was hit during the operation. The base is known as a key part of Russia’s strategic air force infrastructure. Ukrainian sources say the attack resulted in the destruction of a bomb depot and damage to at least one aircraft. While independent confirmation remains limited, Ukrainian military intelligence has officially claimed responsibility for the strike.

Russian officials confirmed the attack but have not disclosed detailed information about the damage or consequences. The Kremlin has yet to issue an official statement on the incident.

This latest attack comes amid a recent surge in Russian airstrikes across Ukrainian cities, including Kyiv and Kharkiv, with multiple missile and drone assaults reported. Earlier this year, Ukraine demonstrated its growing offensive capabilities by destroying several Russian aircraft at multiple bases, signaling a shift from a mainly defensive stance to more strategic, long-range strikes aimed at undermining Russian supply lines and air dominance.

The ongoing exchange of attacks highlights the rising intensity of the conflict, with both sides increasingly targeting critical infrastructure to gain tactical advantage through advanced air operations.
