Lavrov and Iranian FM Discuss Iran’s Nuclear Program at BRICS Summit

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi held a meeting on the sidelines of the 17th BRICS Leaders Summit in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, to discuss the ongoing crisis surrounding Iran’s nuclear program.

Condemnation of Israeli and U.S. Actions
During the meeting, Lavrov reiterated Russia’s condemnation of Israel and the United States for violating the United Nations Charter by attacking Iranian territory and nuclear energy infrastructure facilities under the supervision of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).

Call for Diplomatic Solutions
Both ministers emphasized the need to resolve the crisis over Iran’s nuclear program through political and diplomatic means. Lavrov reaffirmed Moscow’s readiness to support such efforts, highlighting Russia’s commitment to a peaceful resolution.

Bilateral Relations
The two foreign ministers also discussed the state of bilateral relations between Russia and Iran, underscoring the importance of continued cooperation in various fields.
