Gaza Death Toll Reaches 56,500 Amid Israel’s Genocidal War

The death toll in Gaza has risen to 56,500 as Israel’s genocidal war continues, according to the Palestinian Health Ministry. Over 133,400 Palestinians have been injured since the conflict began in October 2023, with 88 killed and 365 injured in the last 24 hours alone.

Reported by a reporter from Kokcha News Agency, the Palestinian Health Ministry announced on Sunday that the death toll in Gaza has reached 56,500, with over 133,400 Palestinians injured since Israel’s military assault began in October 2023. In the last 24 hours, 88 bodies were brought to hospitals, and 365 people were injured, as Israel’s attacks continue unabated.

The ministry also reported that 18 Palestinians were killed and 41 injured while attempting to access humanitarian aid, bringing the total number of Palestinians killed while seeking aid to 583, with 4,186 injured since May 27.

The Israeli army resumed its attacks on Gaza on March 18, shattering a ceasefire and prisoner exchange agreement that had been in place since January. Since then, 6,175 people have been killed, and 21,378 others have been injured.

The ministry emphasized that many victims remain trapped under rubble and on roads, as rescue teams are unable to reach them due to ongoing violence and destruction.

In November 2024, the International Criminal Court (ICC) issued arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant for war crimes and crimes against humanity in Gaza. Israel also faces a genocide case at the International Court of Justice (ICJ) for its actions in the enclave.
