Kokcha News Agency: Iran exported $510 million in non-oil goods to Afghanistan between March 21 and June 21, solidifying Afghanistan’s position as Iran’s fifth-largest export destination, according to data released by the Iran Customs Administration.

Officials and business leaders have emphasized the growing trade relationship between the two countries as a key factor in regional stability. At a recent Iran-Afghanistan trade conference, Payam Baqeri, Deputy Head of the Iran Chamber of Commerce, Industries, Mines, and Agriculture (ICCIMA), called for a deeper economic partnership, citing shared history and complementary resources. Baqeri highlighted Iran’s industrial infrastructure and Afghanistan’s mineral wealth as areas of potential collaboration.

Baqeri also outlined efforts to expand trade through joint ventures, workforce development, and the easing of trade barriers. Meanwhile, Iran’s Agriculture Minister expressed readiness to boost cooperation in agricultural services and proposed the formation of a joint committee to further advance bilateral ties.

Progress on the Tehran-Kabul economic pact was reviewed during a technical meeting in Kabul on April 10, with a focus on trade, transit, mining, and agriculture.

Bilateral trade between Iran and Afghanistan surged by 84% in 2024, reaching a total of $3.2 billion. Iran exported $3.14 billion worth of goods, primarily oil products, steel, food, and construction materials. Afghanistan’s exports to Iran, mainly raw and agricultural products, grew by 116% to $54 million.
