Kokcha News Agency: Intense forest fires in southern France, exacerbated by strong winds, have led to the closure of Marseille Provence Airport. A spokesperson for the airport announced that flights have been redirected to other regional airports, including Nice and Nimes.

It remains unclear when Marseille’s airport will reopen. The local fire department, in a post on social media platform X, reported that the fire in the northern outskirts of Marseille, France’s second-largest city, has spread across approximately 30 hectares of land.

A total of 168 firefighters are currently battling the blaze.

Local authorities have warned residents of Marseille’s 16th district to stay indoors today due to the rapidly spreading fire.
