Israel-Syria Talks Set to Take Place in Baku Under Azerbaijani Mediation

According to Kokcha, Israel and Syria are scheduled to hold a direct meeting in Baku today, facilitated by Azerbaijan, amid ongoing regional tensions.

Kokcha News Agency reports that, under Azerbaijan’s mediation, diplomatic representatives from Israel and Syria are preparing to meet in Baku.

Kokcha News Agency cites a diplomatic source confirming that the talks are happening as part of ongoing efforts to ease regional conflicts.

The source, referring to Syrian President Bashar al-Assad’s visit to Azerbaijan, stated that “during Assad’s visit, a meeting will be held between a Syrian and an Israeli official.”

The discussion will primarily focus on Israel’s military presence in Syria. It is noted that President Assad will not participate directly in the meeting.

This development signals a significant diplomatic step, albeit limited to specific issues, as Azerbaijan acts as a neutral mediator.

The exact agenda of the meeting remains confidential, but sources confirm that one of the key points to be discussed is the Israeli military operations in Syrian territory, with ongoing tensions and conflicts in the region.

The meeting reflects a cautious move towards dialogue in a highly sensitive regional environment, where direct contacts between Israel and Syria have been historically limited or non-existent.
