Iran Condemns Israeli Actions in Gaza, Warns of Imminent Humanitarian Catastrophe
Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei has condemned Israel’s ongoing actions in Gaza, accusing it of using Western-made weapons to commit genocide and warning of an imminent humanitarian catastrophe if immediate action is not taken.
Kokcha News Agency – Esmaeil Baghaei, the spokesperson for Iran’s Foreign Ministry, took to Twitter on Thursday to denounce Israel’s actions in Gaza, describing them as genocide supported by the West. Baghaei accused Israel of using Western-made weapons to continue its killing spree, while also causing famine and hunger in Gaza with the complicity of Western nations. He further criticized the United States for using its veto power to shield Israel from accountability.
“It is already too late. Enough with the division, inaction, and empty words. It is our shared responsibility to act now to save the oppressed people of Gaza from mass extermination due to hunger and thirst,” Baghaei wrote. He emphasized that ruthless criminals must be stopped and their impunity brought to an end.
Humanitarian Catastrophe in Gaza:
Baghaei’s warning comes amid growing concerns over the dire humanitarian situation in Gaza. Two days ago, Amjad al-Shawa, the head of the Palestinian NGO Network, sounded the alarm about severe hunger in Gaza, warning that a full-scale humanitarian catastrophe is unfolding. Al-Shawa stated that without immediate aid, the region will witness a silent massacre of Palestinians.
According to the Shehab News Agency, al-Shawa highlighted the alarming increase in the number of children dying from malnutrition due to the lack of food and medicine. “Just on Sunday, we recorded the deaths of two children from hunger, and in the past three days, this number has risen to four. We are in a dangerous situation. The elderly are also dying due to the lack of food and medical supplies,” he said.
Food Shortages and Soaring Prices:
Al-Shawa added that the humanitarian situation in Gaza is catastrophic, with flour and rice stocks completely depleted in aid centers and markets. The price of flour has skyrocketed to $70 per kilogram, and people are desperately searching for food in the streets, all while Israeli airstrikes continue unabated.
“Many people are coming to hospitals daily due to malnutrition, while infants and pregnant women face a dire situation due to the lack of baby formula and proper nutrition,” al-Shawa explained. He warned that Gaza is on the brink of a full-scale humanitarian disaster that threatens the lives of hundreds of thousands.
Israel’s Use of Hunger as a Weapon:
Al-Shawa accused Israel of using planned starvation as a weapon by blocking aid deliveries to force Gazans into forced displacement. He stated that Israel is pushing Palestinians toward so-called aid distribution centers, which he described as death traps where civilians are killed while searching for food.
“Tens of thousands of people are going to these centers despite the risk of death, and many are returning either dead or injured. This mechanism serves the occupiers’ goal of emptying Gaza,” al-Shawa said.
International Warnings:
The Al-Araby Al-Jadeed news outlet also reported that Israel’s airstrikes and artillery attacks on Gaza continue as the monster of hunger grows more visible, claiming the lives of Palestinians daily. The report highlighted that Gaza is experiencing unprecedented levels of hunger and malnutrition, with the humanitarian crisis reaching catastrophic proportions.
This comes amid warnings from the United Nations about the urgent need for medical treatment for tens of thousands of women and children in Gaza. Humanitarian aid remains scarce due to the tight blockade and ongoing war.
Local sources in Gaza have reported an increase in infant deaths due to severe hunger, with at least three deaths recorded in the past week.
The situation in Gaza is rapidly deteriorating, with hunger, malnutrition, and continued Israeli airstrikes pushing the region toward a full-scale humanitarian disaster. Iran’s Foreign Ministry has called for immediate international action to prevent further loss of life, while Palestinian NGOs warn that without urgent aid, the death toll will continue to rise.
