Kokcha News Agency: In a crucial meeting held in Paris, U.S. Ambassador Tom Barrack and Special Envoy for Syria facilitated significant dialogue initiatives aimed at de-escalating tensions between Syrian and Israeli representatives.
The discussions achieved their intended goal, as all parties involved reiterated their commitment to maintaining and continuing efforts towards peaceful resolutions.
This diplomatic engagement underscores the U.S.’s strategic focus on fostering regional peace through sustained conversations and mutual agreements, marking a positive step forward in the Syrian-Israeli relationship.
The commitment to continued peaceful discussions was reaffirmed by all involved. In Beirut, Barrack reiterated a long-standing U.S. position that the challenge Hizballah poses is for the Lebanese government to resolve. The U.S. committed to supporting Lebanon if the government enforces its monopoly on arms, with the Lebanese Armed Forces (LAF) recognized as the sole legitimate military body.
Mark Rubio emphasized the goal of a robust Lebanese state capable of disarming Hizballah. The U.S. makes no distinction between Hizballah’s political and military branches, considering it a terrorist entity, while recognizing the LAF as crucial to Lebanon’s sovereignty and future stability.
The onus is now on Lebanon’s leaders and the LAF to support a future independent of Hizballah’s influence, with American backing promised along the way.
