Gaza Government Condemns International Silence as 650,000 Children Face Starvation
The Gaza government criticized the international community’s silence over the ongoing humanitarian crisis, stating that as a result of Israel’s genocide and blockade, 650,000 children under five are now facing severe hunger.
According to reports from Kokcha News Agency, the Gaza Ministry of Media issued a written statement condemning Israel’s continued attacks since October 7, 2023, and the blockade’s devastating impact. The statement highlighted that since Israel’s complete closure of border crossings in March, the region has faced a worsening crisis with severe food shortages, leading to increased risks of starvation for hundreds of thousands of civilians.
The Gaza government emphasized, “Amid the shameful silence of the international community, around 1.1 million children are now threatened by hunger, with 650,000 of them under five years old at immediate risk.” The statement further condemned Israel’s complete blockade, which has prevented aid, medical supplies, and fuel from entering the enclave, calling it “one of the gravest collective crimes of modern times.”
The situation is rapidly deteriorating, with many deaths in recent days due to lack of medical supplies and the destruction of infrastructure. Israel continues to block all land crossings since October 7, allowing only a few vehicles through the Kerem Abu Salem border crossing, despite hundreds of aid trucks waiting to deliver necessities.
