Kokcha News Agency: A secret campaign to undermine the International Criminal Court’s (ICC) efforts to investigate alleged war crimes by Israeli leaders has been exposed, according to new reports published by a prominent French newspaper. The campaign targeted ICC Chief Prosecutor Karim Khan, who faced a barrage of fabricated allegations of sexual misconduct, leading to investigations by the UN and the ICC itself.
The reports reveal that Khan was forced to take indefinite leave in May following an unsuccessful attempt to suspend him from his position. The French newspaper disclosed that one of Khan’s office staff leaked the allegations to the media and attempted to convince the ICC’s presidency to suspend Khan, indicating internal bias and a conspiracy against the chief prosecutor.
Former ICC judge Kuno Tarfusser described Khan’s leave as a “coup” and called the investigations into the misconduct allegations “informal.” The scandal has effectively halted investigations into the case against Israeli leaders, highlighting the ICC’s vulnerability to external pressures.
The covert campaign has raised serious concerns about the integrity of the ICC and its ability to pursue justice impartially. The revelations come at a time when the court is under increasing scrutiny for its handling of high-profile cases, particularly those involving powerful nations and their leaders.
