Russian Foreign Ministry Dismisses Macron’s Claims: “Putin Doesn’t Want Peace”

The Russian Foreign Ministry has dismissed French President Emmanuel Macron’s claims that Putin does not want peace, calling them "baseless lies" and emphasizing Russia’s commitment to resolving the Ukraine crisis through the Minsk agreements.

Kokcha News Agency – Maria Zakharova, spokesperson for the Russian Foreign Ministry, has responded to French President Emmanuel Macron’s recent comments, stating that Russia has been proposing a peaceful resolution to the internal crisis in Ukraine within the framework of the Minsk agreements for seven years.

Zakharova accused French political and state figures of pressuring Ukrainian mercenaries instead of supporting peaceful negotiations. She emphasized that Russia has consistently sought a diplomatic solution to the conflict.

Macron’s Statements on Territorial Losses
Macron, after consulting with the “Coalition of Volunteer Countries,” stated that Kyiv could recognize territorial losses in exchange for security guarantees.

The French president added, “A country, within the framework of a temporary ceasefire, truce, or peace agreement, knows that it has lost specific territories. It does not accept that they are under the sovereignty of another country but acknowledges that it has lost them as a result of military action. This does not contradict international law.”

Macron also noted that Ukraine’s recognition of territorial losses would only be possible if security guarantees were provided.
