Palestinians in Northern Gaza Forced to Flee Again Amid Israeli Attacks
Hundreds of Palestinians in the Saftawi neighborhood of northern Gaza have been forced to flee their homes once again as Israel intensifies its attacks and implements its occupation plan.
Kokcha News Agency: Hundreds of Palestinians in the Saftawi neighborhood of northern Gaza have been forced to flee their homes due to increased Israeli military attacks and the implementation of Israel’s occupation plan. The Israeli army has intensified its bombardment of the area, including airstrikes and artillery fire, forcing residents to leave with only a few belongings.
Gaza Strip, which spans approximately 360 square kilometers, is home to around 2.3 million Palestinians. For nearly two years, Palestinians in Gaza have faced forced displacement due to relentless Israeli attacks. With Israel’s new plan to occupy Gaza City, around 1 million Palestinians in the north are once again facing the ordeal of forced migration.
Images from the area show hundreds of Palestinians, mostly women and children, fleeing on foot under the sound of gunfire and rising smoke. Many injured and disabled Palestinians are also seen struggling to leave the area amid the chaos.
Israel’s Occupation Plan:
Israel’s Security Cabinet approved a plan on August 8 to occupy Gaza City in the northern Gaza Strip. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stated in an interview that the goal is to fully occupy the Gaza Strip. According to the plan, in the first phase, around 1 million Palestinians will be displaced to the south, and the city will be besieged and occupied after intense attacks. In the second phase, the refugee camps in central Gaza, which have been largely destroyed, will be occupied.
Israel occupied the Gaza Strip from 1967 to 2005, and the area has been under a severe blockade for the past 18 years.
