Kokcha News Agency: Zalmay Khalilzad, the infamous lobbyist and dealmaker, has resurfaced with a new plan to reshape Afghanistan’s political landscape. His latest scheme involves the creation of a “transitional government” that would include the Taliban, particularly the Haqqani network, alongside a few discredited figures from the former republic and some anti-Taliban forces for show.
The centerpiece of Khalilzad’s plan is the appointment of his puppet, Mirwais Azizi, as Prime Minister. Azizi, a known figure in Khalilzad’s circle, would serve as a mere figurehead in this arrangement.
It’s important to note that this “Khalilzad Project” is not the official policy of the United States but rather a personal venture aimed at reasserting his influence. Khalilzad is even leveraging the name of former President Trump and his team to lend credibility to his plan.
The urgency behind this move stems from the fact that Pakistan, Iran, and even some Western countries are expected to propose new initiatives this fall. Khalilzad fears being sidelined and is rushing to present his plan as a fait accompli
However, this sinister plan, like his previous schemes, is doomed to fail. The people of Afghanistan will not be fooled by another “transitional government” facade. The blood of the martyrs and the spirit of resistance will not allow the return of terrorism under a new guise of legitimacy.
This time, history will not be deceived. No matter how many scenarios Khalilzad writes, the Afghan people know that the future of Afghanistan belongs to its people and their resistance, not to traitors and dealmakers.
