As part of its humanitarian efforts in Afghanistan, India organized a five-day ‘Jaipur Foot’ camp in Kabul, offering free prosthetic limbs, calipers, and other mobility aids to dozens of physically challenged individuals. The camp was organized by the Bhagwan Mahaveer Viklang Sahayata Samiti (BMVSS), a Jaipur-based charitable organization, in collaboration with the Indian Embassy in Kabul.
Randhir Jaiswal, the spokesperson for India’s Ministry of External Affairs, stated on June 29 in a post on X:
“As part of India’s ongoing humanitarian assistance to the people of Afghanistan, a five-day Jaipur Foot camp was organized in Kabul by BMVSS, Jaipur. The camp saw an enthusiastic response, with around 75 prosthetic limbs successfully fitted.”
The initiative aligns with India’s long-standing commitment to the welfare of the Afghan people, particularly during times of humanitarian crisis. India has been one of the key regional donors to Afghanistan, providing food aid, medical supplies, scholarships, and capacity-building programs since the Taliban’s return to power in August 2021.
Afghanistan has been grappling with a severe humanitarian crisis, with millions facing food insecurity, lack of medical services, and widespread unemployment. India’s efforts, including the Jaipur Foot camp, aim to address basic human needs without imposing political conditions.
