Israeli Media Claims US President Trump to Announce Gaza Ceasefire on July 7
Israeli newspaper Yedioth Ahronoth has reported that US President Donald Trump is expected to announce a ceasefire in Gaza on July 7, following negotiations between Israel and Hamas.
According to Yedioth Ahronoth, Israeli officials are preparing to negotiate the details of a ceasefire with Hamas. The report, citing Israeli sources, claims that President Trump aims to announce the ceasefire and a prisoner exchange agreement during his upcoming meeting with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
Hamas’ Response:
The report suggests that Hamas has signaled a positive response to the proposal, indicating progress toward an agreement. However, tough negotiations are expected over the release of Palestinian prisoners and other key issues.
US and Qatar’s Role:
It is alleged that Trump has pressured Qatar, which in turn has been pressuring Hamas to agree to the deal. Israel is reportedly ready to begin negotiations once Hamas officially responds.
Trump’s Previous Announcement:
Earlier, President Trump announced that Israel had accepted the necessary conditions for a 60-day ceasefire in the Gaza Strip. He stated, “Israel has accepted the conditions required to finalize a 60-day ceasefire. During this period, we will work with all parties to end the war.”
Trump also noted that Qatar and Egypt, the mediators in the ceasefire talks, would present the “final proposal” to Hamas.
Hamas’ Position:
Hamas has confirmed that it is evaluating the mediators’ proposal, and Palestinian sources indicate that the group is inclined to accept the ceasefire offer.
