Heat, Hunger, and Desperation in Zahedan’s Al-Ghadir Camp; Baloch Citizens Rally to Help Migrants

According to Hasht-e Subh, the situation in the Al-Ghadir Camp has reached a breaking point. Videos and images show that due to restrictions imposed by authorities, Baloch citizens are forced to pass bread and water under the camp gates to reach the hungry and thirsty detainees.

Eyewitness Account:
One eyewitness stated, “They have nothing—no water, no bread, no shade. Women and children are lying weak under the scorching sun. Only the people are coming to their aid.”

Local Efforts to Help:
On the same day, a group of Baloch youth took the initiative to prepare and deliver 250 loaves of bread and 18 blocks of ice to the camp residents. This act of solidarity comes as thousands of people in the camp face a severe humanitarian crisis.

Exploitation of Basic Needs:
A local source emphasized, “Frozen water is being sold for up to 60,000 tomans, bread for 50,000 tomans, and ice for up to 100,000 tomans. Many don’t even have the money to afford these essentials.”

Women and Children in Dire Straits:
The situation for women in the camp is particularly alarming. The lack of sanitary supplies and medical care has left many mothers and infants in critical condition.

Context of the Crisis:
This crisis has intensified amid the Islamic Republic of Iran’s official policy of mass deportation of Afghan migrants. In recent weeks alone, over 650,000 migrants have been deported through the borders of Dogharoun and Milak, while tens of thousands remain detained in camps.

Undocumented Baloch Citizens:
Some of the detainees in the camp are undocumented Baloch citizens who have been held alongside Afghan migrants without proper identification or separation.
