Ukraine Targets Russian Military Airfield, Russia Downs 42 Ukrainian Drones
Ukraine has launched an attack on Russia’s Borisoglebsk military airfield in the Voronezh region, while Russia claims to have shot down 42 Ukrainian drones in various regions.

The Ukrainian military announced on social media that it had targeted the Borisoglebsk military airfield in Russia’s Voronezh region. The attack reportedly destroyed a warehouse containing wing-mounted bombs and a training aircraft, with other aircraft also hit, though details were not provided.
The Ukrainian military stated, “This airfield was the main base for the enemy’s Su-34, Su-35, and Su-30SM aircraft.”
Russia’s Response
Russian officials reported that their air defense units had shot down 42 Ukrainian drones across multiple regions in a three-hour period. Alexander Drozdenko, the governor of Leningrad, confirmed that two drones were shot down near St. Petersburg, leading to the suspension of operations at Pulkovo Airport.
The governor of the Smolensk region also reported that three drones were downed in the western part of the country, with no damage or casualties. Additionally, the governor of Voronezh, which borders Ukraine, announced that “many” drones had been destroyed.
Previous Attack
The Ukrainian strike on the Borisoglebsk airfield came a day after Russia launched one of its largest air attacks on Ukraine since the war began, firing 539 drones and 11 missiles. The attack on Kyiv injured 23 people, marking a significant escalation in the conflict.
