Millionaire Financier’s Torture Chamber and Abuse of Women
Former financier Howard Rubin, who once worked for the Soros Fund, has been arrested on charges of sexually and physically assaulting dozens of women, including former Playboy models, in a soundproof room he called the “Dungeon.”

Kokcha News Agency: Federal prosecutors have arrested Howard Rubin, a former financier who worked for George Soros’s companies, on allegations that he tortured and abused women, including former Playboy models, in a soundproof “dungeon” he created in a Midtown penthouse. Rubin’s former assistant, Jennifer Powers, has also been arrested in connection with the case.
According to the indictment filed in Brooklyn Federal Court, Rubin and Powers allegedly lured women to New York with promises of money, then subjected them to sexual and physical abuse between 2009 and 2019. The victims, who included women who had previously suffered sexual abuse, financial hardship, or addiction, were often drugged or given alcohol before being coerced into non-consensual acts.
The “Dungeon”:
The penthouse, located near Central Park, featured a soundproof, red-painted room dubbed the “Dungeon,” equipped with tools for bondage, discipline, and sadomasochism. Rubin reportedly spent over $1 million to facilitate these acts, which included beatings, electric shocks, and other forms of torture.
Messages Reveal Cruelty:
Federal agents uncovered text messages between Rubin and Powers, in which Rubin expressed enjoyment in torturing the women. In one exchange, Powers reportedly asked Rubin if he had given a woman an electric shock while she was tied to a cross.
Payments and Secrecy:
Rubin and Powers allegedly paid the women through bank transfers, PayPal, and Venmo, avoiding single payments over $10,000 to evade detection. They also forced the women to sign nondisclosure agreements, often while under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
Previous Case:
Rubin and Powers were previously sued in 2017 for civil sex trafficking, but a jury found them not liable. The case was later appealed.
Potential Sentences:
If convicted, Rubin and Powers could face up to 15 years in prison. Rubin’s wife, Mary J. Henry, filed for divorce in 2021 following the allegations.
