Kokche News Agency reports that late last night, a Ryanair aircraft scheduled for departure from Palma de Mallorca to Manchester experienced a fire warning while passengers were onboard. The alert caused panic among travelers, some of whom jumped from the aircraft’s wings in a frantic evacuation.
In total, 18 people sustained minor injuries during the chaos. Emergency crews, including police and firefighters, rushed to the scene. Footage circulating on social media shows passengers on the tarmac, some on the wings of the aircraft, as responders work to manage the situation. Six of the injured were taken to hospitals, with three hospitalized in critical condition at Clínica Rotger. Other injured passengers received treatment at Quironsalud Palmiplanas Hospital.
A viral video captured an airport worker speaking via walkie-talkie, saying, “Do you know there are emergency exits on the plane? The plane was about to take off from gate 8 or 10, and now people are jumping from the wings. Something is happening, something is happening.” Ryanair later confirmed that the incident was caused by a mistaken fire alarm and apologized for the disruption. The aircraft eventually departed at 07:05 AM local time on a different flight.
