Kokche News Agency reports that Kosovo’s Parliament was evacuated after receiving a bomb threat. The session, which began on April 15 and is currently ongoing every two days due to the failure to elect a new speaker, was interrupted in the early morning hours as Members of Parliament (MPs) and journalists entered the building for the 42nd session.
Security teams, including police and bomb disposal experts, responded swiftly to the threat. The Kosovo police announced that they informed the relevant prosecutor’s office, and specialists in mine disposal and joint security units are conducting investigations and necessary checks at the scene.
A Kosovo Police statement read, “Kosovo police, in coordination with the prosecutor’s office, is carrying out checks at the scene with investigators, bomb disposal experts, and relevant units.”
Details of the Threat:
Arben Loshi, acting Secretary of the Kosovo Assembly, told local media that someone who spoke in English called the building and claimed a bomb was planted, warning it would explode in 10 minutes. Meanwhile, Kosovo Future Alliance (AAK) MP Time Kadrijaj criticized the incident, saying, “The events are completely senseless. This could be a deliberate call designed to distract MPs from the assembly. It’s impossible that someone attacking the parliament is a normal person.”
Following the threat, the session was postponed to 8:00 PM local time. The Kosovo Presidency Office, which shares the same building with the Assembly, was also affected by the evacuation.
