Expectation of Chinese Military Support for Iran Contradicts Beijing’s Middle East Policy
A China affairs expert states that the expectation of Chinese military support for Iran conflicts with Beijing’s Middle East policy, which is based on engagement with all parties and avoiding bilateral conflicts.

Kokcha News Agency: Zakieh Yazdanshenas, a China affairs expert, stated that China’s strategy in the Middle East over the past decade has been based on strategic hedging.
This means that China seeks active engagement with all parties and avoids involvement in bilateral conflicts in the region.
She added, “China remains the largest trading partner of the United States and a key supporter and ally of Israel. Beijing has consistently advocated for stability and security in the Middle East through development and economic cooperation.”
Yazdanshenas referred to Xi Jinping’s four-point initiative during Israel’s aggression against Iran, which included prioritizing a ceasefire, ensuring the security of civilians, dialogue and negotiation as the ultimate solution, and international efforts to establish peace.
She noted, “This initiative is general in nature and more of a position statement regarding a regional conflict.”
