Putin Appoints Andrey Nikitin as Transport Minister

Russian President Vladimir Putin has signed a decree appointing Andrey Nikitin as the new Transport Minister of Russia, following the sudden death of the previous minister, Roman Starovoyt, who was found dead in his car under circumstances suggesting suicide.

Kokcha News Agency: Russian President Vladimir Putin has officially appointed Andrey Nikitin as the new Transport Minister of Russia. The Kremlin announced that Putin signed the decree, confirming Nikitin’s appointment to the position.

The appointment comes after the tragic death of the previous Transport Minister, Roman Starovoyt, who was found dead in his car on the previous day. Initial reports suggested that Starovoyt’s death was a suicide.

Andrey Nikitin, who has now taken over the role, previously served as the head of the Russian Strategic Initiatives Agency. He was the governor of the Novgorod Region from October 2017 to February 2024 and has been serving as Deputy Transport Minister since February of this year.

Yesterday, President Putin met with Nikitin at the Kremlin Palace, signaling his confidence in the new appointee.
