Iraq to Equip Itself with Advanced Air Defense Systems

Despite reports of extensive Israeli efforts to block the transfer of defense systems to Iraq, a senior Iraqi military official has confirmed that the country will acquire advanced air defense systems to protect its airspace.

Kokcha News Agency: Iraq is set to acquire advanced air defense systems, according to a senior Iraqi military official, despite reports of Israeli interference aimed at preventing such transfers.

Tahseen Al-Khafaji, spokesperson for Iraq’s Security Media Cell, described the systems as “significant” and “state-of-the-art,” emphasizing their ability to withstand electronic warfare and defend Iraqi airspace against drones.

Al-Khafaji stated that the new air defense systems will be crucial in protecting Iraq’s airspace from unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) and other potential threats. He highlighted that the systems are designed to be resistant to electronic jamming, ensuring their effectiveness in modern combat scenarios.

The announcement comes amid increasing concerns over regional security and the need for Iraq to bolster its defensive capabilities. The acquisition of these advanced systems is seen as a key step in enhancing Iraq’s ability to protect its sovereignty and maintain stability in the region.
