Putin Urges Iran to Accept “Zero Enrichment” in Nuclear Deal
Russian President Vladimir Putin has reportedly called on Iran to agree to a nuclear deal that would eliminate all uranium enrichment activities, signaling a shift in Moscow’s stance amid escalating tensions in the region.

Kokcha News Agency: According to informed sources, Russian President Vladimir Putin has communicated to both Donald Trump and Iranian officials that he supports a nuclear agreement in which Iran would have no uranium enrichment capabilities.
While Russia has long been a key diplomatic ally of Iran in its nuclear negotiations, Putin’s private stance appears to have hardened following the 12-day conflict between Iran and Israel. Despite Moscow’s public support for Iran’s “right to enrich uranium,” Putin has reportedly adopted a more stringent position in private discussions, advocating for “zero enrichment” as part of any future nuclear deal.
This shift comes at a critical time, as international efforts to revive the 2015 Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) have stalled. Putin’s call for Iran to abandon enrichment entirely could complicate negotiations, as Tehran has consistently maintained that its nuclear program is for peaceful purposes and that enrichment is a sovereign right.
The Russian president’s reported stance reflects growing concerns over regional stability and the potential for further escalation in the Middle East. However, it remains unclear how Iran will respond to this proposal, given its longstanding insistence on maintaining enrichment capabilities.
