Former Iranian Police Chief’s Claims Blame Afghans for Intelligence Failures

Former Iranian police chief, General Talaei, has made controversial claims blaming Afghan migrants for Iran’s intelligence failures, as reports emerge of an Israeli strike targeting a high-level security meeting in Tehran.

Kokcha News Agency: General Talaei, former commander of Iran’s police forces, has made unsubstantiated claims that Afghan migrants, particularly former Afghan military personnel, were acting on behalf of the U.S. and Israel to destabilize Iran.

These claims, which lack any concrete evidence, are seen as an attempt to deflect blame for Iran’s intelligence failures and internal security weaknesses.

The accusations come amid reports from Iran’s state-run Fars News Agency that a high-level emergency meeting of Iran’s National Security Council, attended by the heads of the three branches of government and military commanders, was targeted by six precise Israeli rockets or bombs.

The meeting, held in a secure underground location, was evacuated through an emergency exit, and all attendees, including President Masoud Pezeshkian, escaped unharmed.

General Talaei’s claims that Afghan migrants could have orchestrated such sophisticated intelligence operations have been met with skepticism. Critics argue that Iran’s intelligence failures are more likely the result of deep Israeli infiltration within the Iranian government itself, rather than the actions of Afghan refugees or workers.

The case of Catherine Shakdam, a French-Israeli spy who allegedly penetrated the highest levels of the Iranian leadership, including the Supreme Leader’s office, highlights the extent of Israel’s intelligence operations within Iran.

Shakdam’s alleged access to over 120 Iranian officials raises questions about Iran’s internal security measures, rather than the role of Afghan migrants.
