Kokcha News Agency: According to a report by *Asia Times* in Hong Kong, Europe’s independent efforts to engage with Iran could face strong opposition from U.S. President Donald Trump. Even alignment with the U.S. offers little benefit for Europe, as the U.S. attack on Iran was carried out without coordination with its European allies.
The report highlights that with Trump’s continued presidency, the likelihood of Europe resuming a significant role in the Iran nuclear deal is slim. Europe lacks the leverage to guarantee an end to hostilities, and any independent initiatives risk provoking Trump’s anger.
In this context, Iran has lost hope in Europe’s ability to mediate and prefers to focus on deterrence tools and regional alliances rather than relying on diplomatic promises.
Europe’s weakened relations with Tehran, internal disagreements over Middle East policy, and fear of provoking Trump have rendered it incapable of playing an effective role in the Iran nuclear issue. Given these circumstances, Iran sees little reason to trust Europe.
As the U.S. takes a more aggressive stance, Europe’s role in the Iran nuclear deal has diminished, leaving Iran to prioritize regional alliances and deterrence over diplomatic engagement with Europe.
