Kokcha News Agency: U.S. President Donald Trump, responding to comments made by Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, stated that the U.S. airstrikes on Iran in June had destroyed its nuclear facilities. In a post on Truth Social, Trump referenced Araghchi’s interview with Fox News, where the Iranian minister admitted that the damage to Iran’s nuclear facilities was “very serious” and that the facilities were “destroyed.”
Trump wrote, “Of course, that’s exactly what I said, and if necessary, we’ll do it again.” He also took aim at CNN, accusing the network of employing “fake reporters” who claimed that the U.S. strikes had only set back Iran’s nuclear program by a few months rather than completely destroying it. Trump demanded that CNN “immediately fire” these reporters and issue an apology to him and the U.S. pilots who carried out the strikes.
In his interview with Fox News, Araghchi had stated that Iran’s uranium enrichment program had been temporarily halted due to the severe damage caused by the U.S. strikes. However, he emphasized that Iran would not abandon its enrichment efforts, calling it a matter of “national pride” and a “success of our own scientists.”
On June 13, during ongoing nuclear negotiations between Iran and the U.S., Israel launched attacks on various nuclear and military facilities in Iran, as well as civilian areas. The U.S., openly supporting Israel, carried out its own strikes on June 22, targeting three of Iran’s nuclear facilities in Natanz, Fordo, and Isfahan using bunker-busting bombs in an operation dubbed “Midnight Hammer.”
While Trump hailed the strikes as a “great success,” initial damage assessment reports leaked to the media suggested that the attacks had only set back Iran’s nuclear program by a few months, rather than completely destroying it. The Trump administration reacted strongly to these reports, with the FBI and Pentagon launching investigations into the leaks.
