Trump Administration Releases Over 230,000 Pages of FBI Documents on Martin Luther King Assassination
The Trump administration has declassified and released more than 230,000 pages of FBI documents related to the assassination of civil rights leader Martin Luther King Jr., shedding light on the decades-old case.

Kokcha News Agency: The U.S. National Intelligence Director (DNI) Tulsi Gabbard announced on her social media platform X that the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) documents related to the assassination of Martin Luther King Jr. have been made public. These documents, which have been sealed by court order since 1977, are now accessible on the U.S. National Archives and Records Administration’s website.
The release includes over 230,000 pages of documents detailing the FBI’s investigation into King’s assassination, potential suspects, and internal communications regarding the case. The documents provide a comprehensive look into the FBI’s efforts to uncover the truth behind the 1968 assassination of the civil rights icon.
Martin Luther King’s children, who reviewed the documents before their release, issued a statement acknowledging the public’s long-standing curiosity about the case. They urged those interested in the documents to approach the information with “empathy, moderation, and respect for the ongoing pain of our family.”
This move follows President Donald Trump’s January 23 executive order mandating the release of classified documents related to the assassinations of former President John F. Kennedy, his brother Robert F. Kennedy, and Martin Luther King Jr. The order aims to provide full transparency regarding these historical events.
