Kokcha News Agency: During a daily press briefing in Washington, US State Department Spokesperson Tammy Bruce revealed that Steve Witkoff, President Donald Trump’s Special Envoy for the Middle East, will travel to the region to engage in discussions aimed at establishing a “corridor” to deliver humanitarian aid to Gaza, which remains under Israeli blockade and ongoing attacks.
Bruce stated that Witkoff’s mission is part of broader efforts to facilitate a new ceasefire and ensure that aid reaches Gaza. “President Trump, Secretary of State Marco Rubio, and Envoy Witkoff are all hopeful that we are moving toward a new ceasefire and the opening of a humanitarian corridor to deliver aid to Gaza,” Bruce said.
She added that both sides—Israel and Hamas—have accepted the proposal, and the US is eagerly awaiting the framework for the agreement and ceasefire.
When asked about the targeting of Palestinians in Gaza who were trying to receive food aid, Bruce expressed “deep sorrow” for the 30 people killed while attempting to receive food from a United Nations convoy at a northern Gaza border crossing.
Meanwhile, Israeli state television KAN reported that the Tel Aviv government is expected to respond to Hamas’s ceasefire and prisoner exchange proposal within 24 hours.
