Syrian Foreign Ministry Announces Upcoming Talks with PKK/YPG in Paris for Northeast Syria Integration
The Syrian Foreign Ministry has announced that talks between the Syrian government and the PKK/YPG, aimed at integrating northeast Syria, will take place in Paris "as soon as possible," following a meeting between Syrian Foreign Minister Esad Hasan Şeybani, French Foreign Minister Jean-Noel Barrot, and U.S. Special Envoy Tom Barrack.

Kokcha News Agency: The Syrian Foreign Ministry has revealed that discussions between the Syrian government and the PKK/YPG, which operates under the name Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), will soon be held in Paris to address the integration of northeast Syria into the national framework. The announcement came after a meeting in Paris involving Syrian Foreign Minister Esad Hasan Şeybani, French Foreign Minister Jean-Noel Barrot, and U.S. Special Envoy for Syria Tom Barrack.
In a statement released on the ministry’s official X account, it was noted that the parties agreed to support “political transition efforts aimed at national reconciliation and harmony, particularly in northeast Syria and Suwayda.” The statement also emphasized that the next round of consultations on the “full implementation” of the March 10 agreement between the Syrian government and the PKK/YPG will take place in Paris “as soon as possible.”
Strengthening Cooperation Against Terrorism
The statement highlighted that the meeting resulted in an agreement to strengthen international cooperation in the fight against all forms of terrorism. It also stressed the necessity of enhancing the Syrian government’s capacity to address security issues through state institutions.
Focus on Regional Stability
The statement underscored the importance of ensuring that Syria does not pose a threat to its neighbors and, conversely, that neighboring countries do not threaten Syria’s stability. It also expressed support for efforts to hold accountable those responsible for the incidents in the coastal region of Latakia and Tartus on March 6. The results of the investigation committee’s report on the matter were welcomed as transparent and satisfactory.
Postponed Meeting
The meeting, which was initially scheduled to take place earlier in Paris with French President Emmanuel Macron, Syrian Foreign Minister Şeybani, PKK/YPG leader Mazlum Abdi, and U.S. Special Envoy Barrack, was postponed without explanation.
